The Challenge
Mainstream Aquaculture isn’t your average fish farm.
They’re on a mission to feed the world with premium, sustainably produced Barramundi. These fish are raised in pristine spring water drawn from deep geothermal basins, about as clean and pure as it gets.
Mainstream’s operation near Melbourne includes one of the world’s largest Barramundi hatcheries, producing over 20 million fingerlings each year. That scale demands absolute precision.
To support their advanced recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), they needed reliable oxygen delivery, no leaks, no failures. The goal? Help their fish grow to their full potential, while keeping environmental control tight.
The Goal
Air Energy supplied and installed a Europress 316L stainless steel pressfit pipework system to deliver oxygen across the facility.
We preassembled key components, including custom oxygen flow and distribution panels, in our workshop. That meant faster installation on-site and minimal disruption to Mainstream’s operations.
Europress stainless steel was the clear choice for this project. It’s tough, corrosion-resistant, and ideal for delivering critical gases like oxygen in demanding environments.
The Result
Mainstream’s new oxygen system supports their world-leading selective breeding and aquaculture technology. The facility’s advanced RAS setup now delivers optimal conditions for raising strong, healthy Barramundi.
The result? A more efficient, sustainable operation that produces fingerlings for 17 countries across 5 continents.
