For our client, consistency isn't just about producing a good crop.

This leading medical cannabis cultivation company operates a vertically integrated medicinal cannabis cultivation facility, managing the full production lifecycle from cultivation through to finished product.
With such a controlled growing environment, maintaining consistent conditions throughout the crop chambers is critical.
The existing system wasn't delivering the level of consistency the team wanted. Variations across the chambers could affect crop uniformity, yield and ultimately the value of each harvest.
And there was another major consideration.
There was very little room for error.
Shutting down a growing chamber wasn't simply an inconvenience. A shutdown could put an entire crop at risk, with the potential value of a single crop approaching $500,000.
The client needed a solution that could improve the consistency of their growing environment without creating unnecessary disruption to the business.
The Solution: Design Around the Application
Rather than simply replacing the existing system with another welded galvanised pipe installation, Air Energy worked with the team to rethink the design.
The result was a Europress Carbon Steel press-fit piping system installed beneath the crop chambers.
Carbon steel was selected for its thermal characteristics and suitability for the application, helping create a more consistent heating environment across the chambers.
But the material was only part of the solution.

Why Carbon Steel?

Europress Carbon Steel provided the thermal characteristics required for the application while offering a practical alternative to traditional welded galvanised pipe.
Installed beneath the crop chambers, the pipework helped provide a more even distribution of heat throughout the growing environment.
That meant greater consistency across the chamber and a more uniform environment for the crop.

Faster Installation. Less Disruption.
Traditional welded pipework comes with another challenge: installation time.
Welding requires cutting, preparation, welding and finishing, as well as managing hot works on site.
For a cultivation facility, that's not ideal.
Every additional hour spent working on a chamber can mean additional disruption to the operation.
The Europress press-fit system significantly reduced installation time, with the system able to be installed up to 10 times faster than traditional welded systems.
For the client, the installation was completed in approximately one quarter of the time compared with the traditional approach.
That's more than a construction advantage.
It's a business advantage.
Less installation time means less disruption to production and less time spent working inside an active growing facility.
Most importantly, it helped minimise the potential impact of the project on a business where taking a chamber offline can put a high-value crop at risk.

When you're working around a high-value crop, introducing an open flame isn't something you want to take lightly.
Europress eliminates the need for welding during installation.
The pipework is mechanically pressed into place rather than welded.
