The Challenge
Asahi was consolidating multiple warehouse sites into a single, purpose-built distribution centre in Brisbane.
The Goal
Reduce manual handling, boost productivity, and build a future-ready DC that could scale with demand.
Their old setup relied on forklifts, paper-based checks, and multiple touchpoints, all of which were labour-intensive and prone to delays. They needed a system that would streamline pallet storage and retrieval while supporting around-the-clock operation.
The Solution
Air Energy partnered with a major automation supplier to deliver critical infrastructure for the facility’s new high-speed Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), the tallest satellite system of its kind in Australia.
We supplied and installed a complete compressed air and pipework solution, including:
- Europress stainless steel pipe system
- MAXAIR compressed air pipework, with 63mm mains and 40mm branches
- Atlas Copco G11P 7.5Bar floor-mounted compressor
- OMD135 air dryer
- Free-standing vertical air receiver
All components were chosen for performance, reliability, and compatibility with a fully automated environment.
The Result
With the new system in place, Asahi achieved a 250% increase in productivity.
The ASRS now handles around 31,500 pallet storage positions, operating across
13 levels high and 34 bays deep. Most pallets are never touched by a human until they reach the customer’s distribution centre.
The result is a safer, faster, and more efficient distribution model, powered by automation, and supported by Air Energy’s proven compressed air systems.
