The Challenge
Australian Paper’s $90 million recycling and de-inking facility at Maryvale Mill marked a major step toward sustainable manufacturing, transforming wastepaper into premium recycled copy, envelope, and printing papers.
It’s the only plant of its kind in Australia, designed to process thousands of tonnes of wastepaper every year while maintaining the same quality expected from virgin paper products.
Building a facility like this required a pipework system that could handle demanding conditions, strict hygiene standards, and nonstop operation, without compromising reliability or efficiency.
The Solution
Air Energy supplied over 4 kilometres of 316 stainless steel Europress pipe and more than 4,000 fittings for the project.
Europress was chosen for its clean installation process, proven durability, and speed, up to 10x faster than traditional welding. The press-fit system eliminated hot work and reduced installation downtime, helping keep the massive construction schedule on track.
Throughout the build, Air Energy worked closely with the installation contractor, providing detailed site-run drawings, responsive stock supply, and full materials data documentation.
